Arabian-Style Sesame Seed Cookies

- 1 tablespoon honey mixed with 2 teaspoons hot water
- 1/2 cup sesame seeds, toasted
- 1 cup unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2/3 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Steps
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Lightly grease or
spray cookie sheets.
Stir honey-water mixture into sesame seeds, stirring well to coat. Set aside.
Cream butter with sugar and honey until light and fluffy. Mix flour with baking powder and salt. Stir into butter-sugar mixture to make a smooth dough.
Pinch off pieces of dough and roll into 1-inch balls. Dip one side of balls in sesame seeds. Place on cookie sheets, sesame seed side up. Flatten slightly with the bottom of a drinking glass. Bake in the center of the oven for 13 to 15 minutes, until golden. Let stand on cookie sheets for a minute, then remove to wire racks to cool.
