Chocolate Buttermilk Frosting

Yield: 1 1/2 cups


Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cups confectioners' sugar
  • 5 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 ounces unsweetened chocolate, melted and cooled
  • 1/2 teaspoon chocolate extract (optional)
  • About 2 to 3 tablespoons buttermilk

Instructions

  1. Beat sugar with butter, vanilla, cooled chocolate, and chocolate extract. Stir in enough buttermilk to make a smooth, spreadable frosting.
  2. Use immediately, or refrigerate in a covered bowl for up to 2 days. Let come to room temperature and beat again before using.
